Solar Peak Act, Section 14a EnWG & Time-Variable Grid Tariffs

Latest Product Updates for the German Market

At Eniris, we continuously innovate to ensure that our EMS is not only future-proof but also fully compliant with the regulations in every market we serve. For Germany, we’ve recently rolled out several key updates to our EMS.

Solar Peak Act – Effective February 25th, 2025

This new regulation affects all new PV installations in Germany, and we’ve ensured our systems respond accordingly:

  • Adjustment during negative electricity prices: During periods of negative day-ahead market prices, systems will no longer receive a fixed feed-in tariff. That’s why it’s crucial to avoid injecting energy into the grid at those times and instead use it locally with an EMS. Our EMS is aware of these negative prices and optimizes accordingly.

  • Limitations for systems without EMS: PV systems not connected to an EMS must limit their feed-in power to a maximum of 60% of their kWac capacity. Customers using our EMS face no such limitations, as our system ensures full compliance by dynamically managing feed-in levels.

Support for Section 14a EnWG – Grid Operator Load Management

This legislation allows grid operators to temporarily reduce the consumption capacity of certain devices to relieve stress on the grid. In return, consumers benefit from reduced grid fees:

  • A fixed annual discount, estimated at approximately €160 per year.
  • Or alternatively, a 60% reduction in consumption-based grid charges.

Our systems fully support this mechanism, allowing users to automatically benefit from these financial incentives.

Introduction of Time-Variable Grid Tariffs

As of this year, time-variable grid charges are mandatory in Germany. These are now fully supported by our systems. Installations equipped with battery storage can take full advantage of:

  • Lower electricity costs through the use of dynamic energy tariffs.
  • Reduced grid fees thanks to an optimized load profile, tailored to periods with lower tariff rates.

Our EMS continuously analyzes price signals and grid load conditions, intelligently managing batteries, inverters, and consumption to maximize savings and minimize grid impact.
